Gimbl Monthly Update: GMU #1

As promised, our first “GMTU” is here so we can keep you updated on our technical development status. Please let us know of your thoughts and if you’d like to openly communicate with us on any topic, we’d be glad to engage in a discussion so do not hesitate.

We’ve been working for some time in getting our project management together for better transparency and greater efficiency. We’re now fully aligned on a modified Agile/Scrum methodology with 1-week sprints and will be moving to 2-weeks sprints as soon as we validate everything is working well for us.

Back-end development has ramped up on August 3rd with our latest addition to the team, we’re working on core API issues to provide for a seamless experience even in degraded environments such as congested blockchain networks.

Smart Contracts have been improved to reduce transaction gas costs and secured for some edge cases. Streamer’s contract allowances can now be revoked. We now have a fully automated deployment process for these contracts with Truffle.
Gimbl demo has been updated with an architecture that is closer to the future product, and with ECMAScript 2015–2017 state-of-the-art JavaScript. We will release it very soon, although no functionalities have been added to stay focused on the main product.

Each repository is now automatically built, tested (unitary, functional) and deployed on AWS EC2 using GitLab CI. We’re speeding up greatly our development and cycles and are focusing on the code only, with the assurance that our technical operations are secure and reliable.

Front-end development will begin on September 3rd as the full 4-people team will be active. Most backend micro-services will be ready by then and UX/UI development will be a breeze.

We’re currently discussing the use of an internal wallet aimed at crypto-neophytes who do not want to go through too many steps before using Gimbl. If you are a crypto-security developer and have been working on securing private keys, we’re keen to hear your ideas and struggles.

Stay tuned!
